Handmade macrame cat bed 🀎 crafted by my extremely talented SIL
I sell macrame but I also blog about how to do macrame. Not sure how to reconcile these two things on social media.

I sell macrame on Etsy. But as I said, I also blog about how to do macrame. So my customers of my Etsy are not those who are likely to use my blog and vice versa. I eventually want to make money from my blog (probably mostly through ads or maybe even sell some printables) but I am unsure of my approach to social media like Instagram and Facebook. I have two different audiences essentially. Do I both promote my products and my blog posts? It seems like polar opposites.

I took a long break from this macrame project out of frustration. It was a freehand pattern and I just didn't know if it was gonna be worth it. Well, let me tell you, it was worth it for that video! Not sure what I'm more proud of now; the art or the editing πŸ˜… v.redd.it/ptk7sircshd81

Macrame tips you wish you knew as a noob

Hiya lovely people of macrame! I’ve been stalking this subreddit for a while and I wanted to finally get started on my first project. You all have given me so much inspiration and I’m very excited to get going on my first project. I’ve done some friendship bracelet making as a kid, etc. but I need some advice.

Any good insight into first projects? Is it better to wing your first one to get a feel for it or is using a specific pattern better? What sort of string do I buy and where do I get it from? Any highly recommended YouTube tutorials? Is there anything about macrame that I don’t know that I don’t know, but should definitely be aware of? All of the work I see on this sub is world class, so any/all input is welcome 😊

planter question: Would it be possible for an orchid to survive in just macrame?

I am wanting to mount some of my orchids and I had the thought that since they love my western window, I would put them in a macrame to hang the mounted plants rather than them being on the windowsill as they are now. While looking at different pattern options the thought came would it be possible to have them just in a macrame without the pot? what nutrients do they pull from the wood/coconut/fibers they are in?
