A solar flare caused the decay and ultimate demise of Skylab

Watching Naked Science on Discovery channel about solar flares. It turns out that solar flares caused the upper atmosphere to heat up from 500F to about 1500F. Heat causes things to expand, so our atmosphere expanded up to another 1000 miles outward. The increased drag caused Skylab's orbit to decay and ultimately fall to Earth.
