Facts related to "Anethesiologist"
I had a procedure a few weeks ago and logged on to my insurance site to see what the damage was and I noticed I was billed by both the Anesthesiologist (who introduced himself to me prior to the procedure) as well as a CRNA who I was not aware was part of the procedure (had to google her name after seeing it on the EOB to see who she was), is listed as "misc services" and lists E50We reduced your claim. This is either due to certain codes billed, or because we've paid another provider for part of this service. [E50]".
The bill for the CRNA was more than for the anesthesiologist (both over 1k). Is it typical for one to get a bill two providers for the same service rendered?
I don't have the actual bills yet or any contact information. I just wanted to be prepared for when i get the bill.
I have United Health Care. A few months back I had a fairly simple surgery. Now UHC doesn't want to pay $1700 for the anethesiologist because she wasn't in my network. Am I suppose to ask after I've been dosed with morphine?
