Does anyone have a suggestion for a local place to get rhubarb pie? Just realized my seven year old has never had it and that’s unacceptable.
A family member who lives abroad is flying back to the US for Christmas and has asked me to make a strawberry rhubarb pie. I’ve never made one out of season. I worry that the strawberry this time of year is flavorless and doubt I can find fresh rhubarb. Any advice? Should I just say no? It is one of my specialties I’m spring. Thanks!
I have nothing against either Morrisons or rhubarb, but I was so so looking forward to that pie and had whipped cream ready. Fortunately I had other people to feed it to as I as too disappointed to eat it.
One pie I want to make for Thanksgiving is strawberry-rhubarb, but I can only use frozen strawberries and rhubarb because neither are in season where I live. I'm going to be using the Joy of Cooking recipe (can post it later if necessary), which calls for fresh fruit and rhubarb. I plan to thaw the strawberries and rhubarb in the fridge 1 day ahead of time in a colander, and then dry them off if necessary. Should I make any other adjustments to the recipe? Like adding more cornstarch or anything like that?
I would like to make a rhubarb crumble but I don’t remember how rhubarb tastes on its own!
I’m not such if apple, strawberry or pear would be the best accompaniment.
They all sound delicious. What is the most popular combination or which combo would be best for a cosy evening.
Thanks in advance.
The wasted years, oh the wasted time.
I have a date Saturday with a girl that loves strawberry rhubarb pie. I was hoping to buy at least two slices (if not a whole pie). Anyone know places in town that routinely make/sell it?
EDIT: I ordered a pie from 3.14 Pi for pickup tomorrow, so I’m all good! Thanks for all the suggestions!
